Deedy (Pty) Ltd ("Deedy", "we", "us" or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of all users of the Deedy platform, including our website and mobile application (collectively, the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Platform. Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with its terms, please discontinue use of the Platform.
We collect information you provide directly to us, such as when you create an account, complete your seller or buyer profile, submit a property listing, request a property valuation, or contact us for support. This may include your full name, identity number, email address, phone number, physical address, property details, and financial information relevant to a transaction.
We also collect information automatically when you use the Platform, including log data, device information, IP address, browser type, pages visited, and the date and time of your visit. We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to collect this information. Please refer to our Cookie Policy for further details.
Where you interact with third-party services integrated into the Platform — such as property valuation data from Lightstone, mapping services from Google Maps, or payment processing services — those providers may also collect information in accordance with their own privacy policies.
We use the personal information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve the Platform; to process property listings and valuations; to verify the identity of sellers and buyers; to facilitate communication between parties; to process payments; and to send you transactional and marketing communications where you have opted in to receive them.
We may also use your information to comply with our legal obligations under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA") and other applicable South African legislation; to detect, prevent, and address fraud or security incidents; and to perform analytics to better understand how the Platform is used.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share your information with service providers who assist us in operating the Platform, subject to confidentiality obligations. We may also share information where required by law, court order, or regulatory authority, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Deedy, our users, or the public.
Where a property listing is active and visible to prospective buyers, limited listing details (such as property address, asking price, photographs, and viewing availability) will be visible to registered users of the Platform. Personal contact details of sellers are not shared directly with buyers; all communication is facilitated through the Platform's messaging and booking systems.
We retain your personal information for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, including compliance with legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. When your information is no longer required, we will securely delete or anonymise it in accordance with POPIA and our internal data retention policies.
Under POPIA you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate information, to object to the processing of your information, and to request the deletion of your information where there is no longer a lawful basis for processing it. To exercise any of these rights, please contact our Information Officer at privacy@propu.co.za.
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, loss, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on the Platform and, where appropriate, by sending you a notification. Your continued use of the Platform after any changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
